    In sealed automotive lighting systems, rapid temperature changes during driving create significant internal pressure differentials, leading to condensation, fogging, seal failure, and reduced visibility.     1. Breathability

    The SST-Porous® Component BDT Series Breathable Caps are available in different sizes depending on the ventilation volume. The polypropylene (PP) outer cover is color-coded in black, gray, and brown for easy identification.

    2. Waterproofness

    The SST-Porous® Component BDT Series Breathable Cap features an SST-Porous® e-PTFE breathable membrane. Thanks to its unique network structure composed of “fibers” and “nodes,” the membrane provides excellent breathability while also delivering superior waterproof performance.

    3. Hydrophobicity and oleophobicity

    To meet diverse application requirements, the SST-Porous® e-PTFE breathable membrane is available in two types: water-blocking (hydrophobic) membrane and super water-blocking (oleophobic) membrane.

    When exposed to low-surface-tension liquids or potential oil contamination, the SST-Porous® Component BDT Series Breathable Caps can effectively provide both hydrophobic and oleophobic protection.

    4. High and low temperature resistance

    The SST-Porous® Component BDT Series Breathable Caps can withstand a wide temperature range from -40°C to +120°C.

    ※ The usage temperature of the product mainly depends on the final usage temperature of the base material of the PP outer cover, thermoplastic elastomer or breathable film;
    ※ For specific temperature requirements, SST application engineers can provide breathable cap products with a wider operating temperature range.

    5. PFOA-free

    The material used in the SST-Porous® s-PTFE breathable membrane differs from the conventional PTFE raw material used in e-PTFE membranes. It is produced from a suspension process and does not require the emulsifier perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), which is suspected of being carcinogenic.

    Therefore, when the SST-Porous® s-PTFE breathable membrane is adopted in the component, the SST-Porous® Component BDT Series Breathable Caps are free of PFOA.

    For applications using SST-Porous® e-PTFE breathable membranes, environmentally friendly emulsifiers can be selected in the PTFE dispersion process, ensuring that the SST-Porous® Component BDT Series Breathable Caps are also PFOA-free.

     

    6. Customizability

    The SST-Porous® Component BDT Series Breathable Caps can be customized according to customer requirements. Customers may select different thermoplastic elastomers, inner hole installation diameters, PP outer cover colors, air permeability levels, protection ratings, and other specifications.
